Meet Magalie Eveno, Gilson's Senior Director of New Product Development

Product development and launches take an incredible team behind the scenes to pull off, helping ensure that our customers get the best products for their labs. Successful product updates also help us increase our capacity to serve the life science market so we can stand by the side of researchers and help them produce verifiable science.

As we look to the next chapter of Gilson's growth, we've recently updated our operations and new product development teams. And today, we're excited to introduce Gilson's new Senior Director of New Product Development, Magalie Eveno.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how your previous roles prepared you to take on this next role?

Magalie Eveno: My career began with my educational experience where I earned my Master's degree in chemical engineering, with a focus on Organic Synthesis Chemistry, from the Professionalized University Institute of Nantes, completed by a Master's degree in Chemical and Biological Risk Management. These degrees both helped me better understand the market and customers' needs. After that, I worked within the food supplement and pharmaceutical industry, which provided me with extensive leadership experience in New Product Development as well as Operations and Lean transformation.

In June of 2022, I joined Gilson as the Industrial Director at Gilson Purification (G-PUR). I truly enjoyed this role, working with the G-PUR teams and helping them grow and organize this entity. This experience enabled me to get to know the Gilson organization and forge links with the various key stakeholders throughout the company. As the Industrial Director, I also worked on the roadmap process, developing and launching products like the VERITY® 3240 pump, and several launches of the VERITY® SKID LC specials for the Sample Separation category. This experience allowed me to identify the strengths of our systems and the areas for improvement in our organization.

As I took on the role of Senior Director of New Product Development in July, I've been extending my knowledge to other categories like Sample Handling and Single Use and exchanging ideas with my team, as well as Quality, Operations, and, of course, the Category and Product Managers.

What excites you most about stepping into the Senior Director of New Product Development role? What are you looking forward to the most?

I'm excited about this new role because I'm happy to help enhance collaboration across the organization, across departments, and across my talented teams to develop products that will meet our customers' expectations. I’m so grateful to work with individuals with different skills inside the teams I’m responsible for: R&D, Product, Software, and Project Management teams across every Product Organization. I aim to surprise our customers with innovative products in the upcoming years.

How do you encourage team spirit and collaboration between your different teams?

I try to bring people together to optimize the company's internal skills. I encourage people to respectfully communicate and promote a common interest in the team's objectives. We've started global team meetings to build more robust collaboration and set expectations across different groups. I also support my team in their interactions with Category Managers, Sales, and Operations to understand market and operational needs. In my opinion, growth comes from a better understanding of the needs of our internal and external customers. Questioning and challenging myself and my teams is essential to continuous improvement.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

If I could have any superpower, it would be to travel through time. I would love to see the details of past events to understand better how things happened and why they happened. By the way, seeing the future would be fun too and useful for anticipating market needs. 😉
